Chevy Volt Accessories & Options

Updated 6/12/2011 – Added 2012 Chevy Volt Options and Pricing

2012 Chevy Volt Accessories and Options

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt will bring some minor but important changes to the packaging of options for the Chevy Volt.  Compared to the 2011 Model, the base model is priced at $39,995 instead of $41,000, but loses some standard features.  The 2012 Chevy Volt no longer comes with the Bose Speaker System as a standard feature (It is now a $495 option).  Additionally the 2012 Chevy Volt will not have the navigation system and 30 gb audio hard drive as a standard feature (It is now a $1995 option)

The other options remain the same as the 2011 model (see below), namely the premium interior trim packages, special paint options, parking assist / backup camera, and the optional polished aluminum wheel.  There will also be a new option of 17 in sport alloy wheels with black inserts for $695 (more details and photos to follow).  Previously only a polished aluminum wheel was available at $595.

The 2012 Chevy Volt Accessory list remains the same and can be found on the new Chevy Volt Accessories Page.

2011 Chevrolet Volt Options

Updated 1/27/2011 – See the New Chevy Volt Accessories page here.  Read below still to see Chevy Volt Options.

The 2011 Chevrolet Volt will be pretty tighly packaged, with relatively few options.  Considering it will be a new car and only 10,000 will be made the first year, too many options would probably not be a good thing anyways.

The options available are shown below.

Chevrolet Volt Rear Camera and Parking Assist Option – $695

This option includes sonar based sensors on the front and rear bumper that give audible signals to the driver in the form of periodic pulses and speed up when you get close to another object.  Additionally a back-up camera shows what is behind the Volt with estimated turn guidepaths.  The display will also show a visual warning when you get too close to another object while backing up.

Chevrolet Volt Premium Trim Package- $1395

See the Chevy Volt Trim and Colors Page for more details.

Chevrolet Volt Optional Colors – ($495-995)

See the Chevy Volt Trim and Colors Page for more details.

Chevrolet Volt Polished Aluminum Wheels- ($595)

This option gives you a Chromed, Polished extra shiny R17 Wheel instead of the standard painted wheel.  Both are aluminum, but the surface treatment is different.

Is there “HD Radio” (e.g. digital broadcast radio) support? I see AM/FM and Satellite-optional generally listed, but why don’t car makers say anything about the digital broadcast stuff one way or another?

    • PatrickZWang says:

No HD Radio support unfortunately. Just your standard lineup – though with XM I haven’t been listening to much FM.

Does the video camera have a replay? Can it store the video? Say I back up and hit something, can it be used for insurance purposes? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.

More wheel choices please. There’s nearly no visible difference between painted/polished wheels !

What is GM’s part number for the 120V Charging unit that comes with the Chevy-Volt?
I would like to get a second one to leave at my work.

I read that the 2012 model will have BOSE as an option, the car will not come with it. Is it the same for the 2011 model, or were they all made with BOSE?

    • PatrickZWang says:

      Hey Jade,

All 2011′s had Bose Standard. The only options were paint color, interior trim, wheels, and the backup camera/parking system.

The 2012′s had the passive door unlock which the 2011′s did not have and some other minor refinements.

Do I need to upgrade to the HD option to play music through a smartphone? For example, can I plug my smartphone (Android), or even a flash drive with MP3s loaded, into the USB port and play music through the speakers?
