Regen paddle in my 2017 causing engine racing

I was just driving home in my new 2017 Volt (just over 1000 miles on it) and found something disconcerting happening. When I used the regen paddle the engine would rev up to over 3000 RPMs. I had already pre-warmed the vehicle and the ICE had engaged to get it nice and warm because the outside tempe...

Re: Volt in winter?

I live near the coast in Maine and had a 2012 Vault until just recently when I traded up to the 2017 model. We get pretty brutal winters here and the Volt performed extremely well. The tires are sufficient for winter driving, and the low center of gravity really helps. I was disappointed that the st...

Re: Volt reflections on 100 days of use

Also, by driving in low I avoid friction braking and don't plan on getting my brakes replaced for the next 3 years. Lastly, I go to the gas station once per month on average. Actually, if you don't use your brakes they are likely to rust. My rear discs had to be replaced after three years because I...

Re: Charging cord

I leave my Volt plugged in anytime I am not driving it. I live in Maine where ambient temperatures can range from almost 100°F in the summer down to -15°F in winter. The vehicle can use "shore power" to warm or cool the battery bank to keep it in a safe temperature range. Lithium batteries...

Photo comparison of Gen 1 vs Gen 2 Volts

My dealer made me an offer I could not refuse to trade in my 2012 for a very affordable three-year lease on the 2017 (Gen 2) model. They graciously allowed me to park both vehicles side-by-side and document all of the differences. For those that may be thinking about moving up, I have put all these ...

Re: Turning off POWER at 55 mph in the dark!

I am the original poster of this thread. I want to report that I have just upgraded to the 2017 model and could not be more pleased with where they located the power button and MODE buttons. I have the strong impression that the GM design team has been paying attention to the forum. The gen2 Volt re...

Re: Why I Bought a 2017 Volt and not Bolt

I just traded in my 2012 Volt for a least 2017 model. My dealer made me an offer I could not refuse on both the trade-in and lease rate. I too had been waffling on the whole Bolt versus Volt issue and it came down to some very pragmatic issues. I like the larger Volt body because I have Rhino Racks ...

2016 real-world winter range?

I'm seriously considering trading up from my 2012 (with 50K on it) to the current 2016 model and I'm wondering if anyone has any real world experience with winter driving range? This would be my primary reason for upgrading since I live in Maine and get as little as 23 miles range in our brutal cold...

Recall for power inverter module 13202

I just got a postcard from our dealer here in Maine for a recall for the "power inverter module reprogram 13202". I called our Volt advisor and she was not fully up to speed on this particular recall, but did explain that it is not a critical update. She said it had something to do with mo...

Re: Paint scratches easily

I had been meaning to bring this up earlier this year. We keep our 2012 Volt in an open carport, and this winter (in Maine) I managed to scratch it up pretty badly shoveling up to 6 inches of snow off the vehicle. I think it was a road grit that was trapped in the snow when I pushed it off the roof ...
