Re: 2012 volt vin and 110v charge cord upgrade

Yes, the last 5 digits of the VIN represent the sequence of cars built at the factory. All 2012 Volts built in calendar year 2012 (February 2012 and later) already have the battery update and all cars built before then do not have the battery safety update. The update is optional. The battery pack i...

Re: Loud whining noise from transmission

Thanks for letting us know about the transmission problem in your car. I've got 34,000 miles and almost 2 years on my Volt with no problems yet but it's good to know of any possible emerging problem trends. This is not a problem that I have seen discussed other than one post on GM-volt.com recently?...

Re: Wish I hadn't bought my Volt

This is a rare problem since I have not seen it discussed on any of the Volt or other EV forums that I read. Please let us know what the problem was when it is fixed.

Re: whimsical door locking

What model year Volt do you have? On my 2011 Volt, the doors are locked automatically when the car is taken out of park (shifted to 'D' etc.).

Re: Feedback for GM

Right, whether you use the brake pedal or use 'L' for heavier regeneration when you take your foot off the accelerator makes little difference to the wear on the drivetrain (motor & battery). Most of the braking will occur regenerative my in either case unless you really stomp on the brakes. Usi...

Re: 10 day old Volt still not fixed

You mentioned Trevor asking for your VIN. There is a so-called "Volt Advisor" named Trevor who works on behalf of GM to help coordinate feedback to GM and also to coordinate and help resolve repair issues with dealers. That is a level of customer service you won't find from Nissan or other...

Re: 2nd Annual San Francisco Volt Party (Need your thoughts!

I like Voltran's idea of a Volt parade of sorts.

The only place I know of in the Bay Area with extensive charging capability is the Google campus in Mountain View. The BayLEAFs had a meeting there a few months ago. I could find the right Google contact person, if needed.

New Ads Featuring Volt Owners

I just noticed Patrick is one of a few Volt owners featured in several new video ads from GM. Well done! I assume the ads were recorded in LA? Did you meet the other owners on the set or did they bring you in one at a time? How long we're you on camera -- how many questions did they ask? How many 't...

Re: RANGE GOING DOWN AFTER CHARGING OVERNIGHT

Assuming your driving pattern and technique have not changed, the most likely cause of reduced battery range is due to use of the heater and/or window defroster as temperatures get colder in the Winter. Electric heating takes a lot of power (a lot more than air conditioning). Check your climate cont...

Re: No access to charging station at SFO airport

I haven't seen the specific ChargePoint chargers at SFO but I'm going to assume they are the same as the ones used elsewhere. There should have been an 800 number in fine-print on the charging station for you to call if you didn't yet have a ChargePoint RFID card. The operator can enable the station...
