Re: 2013 Volt charging problems

So I'm guessing it is working normally now? After reading your post, I think the biggest problem is the dealer where you took the car. I would bet the charge port did NOT need to be replaced. Did you have any "check engine" light, warning messages? I had a "service high voltage system...

Re: Replacement Charger - Recommendations

My suggestions would be eBay, just a quick search showed a few on there for sale. As for my other suggestion, I have a 240V charger from Clipper Creek. They also sell four different level 1 chargers, the one that would fit your needs is $395. I do not have any experienece with any other brands. Hope...

Re: 2017 Volt battery - how low does it discharge?

I have written a response to a similiar question, but I don't have the exact figures so I will give a "general" idea what is happening. Again, I don't recall the exact number, but the Volt only uses about 70% of the battery. It will NOT fully charge, say it stops charging at 90% battery ca...

Re: Two coolant reservoirs?

One for the gas engine, one for the High Voltage battery. The Volt battery has its own cooling and heating system UNLIKE the Nissan Leaf.

Re: erratic check engine coming up occasionally

Buy yourself a cheap code reader, I got one from Harbor Freight for about $35. Works just fine.
Or any auto parts store will try to read a code for free such as Autozone. See if there is a code stored and if so, do a search online to see what the code means.
Thats my suggestion.

Re: 98 chevy volts light on?

Sounds like a bad battery to me. The fact that you had it jump started because it was dead, then you drove to work and it started (slowly) after work tells me the alternator is working. If you have a meter you can check the battery voltage when the car is off, then again with it running (if it start...

Re: Speed Bumps and Tire Pressure Monitor System

Just like the other guy who posted he has had to replace 3 flat tires on his Volt that were unrepairable, I see NO WAY your issue or his can be Volt specific. Tires are tires, they don't care if they are on a Volt or a Corvette. Obviously you know that as the temperature cools the pressure in the ti...

Re: Chevy Volt tires issue

Not sure where you drive to get so many flats, that's odd right off the bat. I have not had a flat on my Volt yet, so I really can't say, but I see no way possible that the make and model have anything to do if a tire is repairable or needs to be replaced ?????? If I get a nail in a tire on my Volt,...

Re: Service High Voltage Charging Message

Hey Steve, I have a 2011, had the Service High Voltage system light come on back in September. After research, the biggest cause of this light is low battery coolant level, even if it is just ever so slightly low, it will cause the warning. That being said, that was not why my light was on. The deal...

Re: Leave plugged in when not charging?

It is recommended that you do leave the car plugged in even after it is fully charged. Even when the car is just sitting, it will maintain the battery temperature at the predetermined set temperature range. If it remains plugged in ,it will use external power to maintain battery temperature, if you ...
