Re: potential buyer

Congrats.
What model year did you get?
And I usually check this board at least every couple days if you have any questions.

Re: tax credit on used car

It is my understanding that the tax credit CAN NOT be claimed on a USED vehicle whether or not the original owner received the credit or not. Here is a cut and paste of the information I found: " The vehicle is acquired for use or lease by the taxpayer, and not for resale. (The credit is only a...

Re: potential buyer

Not sure I understand your question about "buying an extra charger for 240v". And yes, living in a condo will most likely be a problem charging even with the 110v charger. If your employer has a 240v charger, you need nothing else to use that, it will charge your car in just under 4 hours....

Re: potential buyer

I can't help much with the California HOV lane questions, but my 2011 allows me to travel in the HOV lanes in Arizona when I am alone. Obviously my 2011 is the first year Chevy came out with the Volt. I purchased it in September 2014 as a Certified Used vehicle from a Chevy dealer. Since I have owne...

Re: Heat and Air Conditioning both at once

There are some instances where the Heat AND A/C will show as being on. One is when the unit is defrosting the windshield. You can manually set it to defrost but it will also do this automatically when it senses conditions where frost on the windshield is likely. Mine is a 2011 and I have seen both s...

Re: Regenerative Braking

Regen braking does not "recharge" the battery any more in gas mode than it does in electric mode. The only times I have actually seen the electric range INCREASE while driving is on very long downhill stretches. There is a road trip we take a few times a year that has a nearly 7 mile downh...

Re: Charging cord

The owners manual of my 2011 recommends leaving the car plugged in even after fully charged. This way it will keep the battery at the desired temperature.

Re: How to hack into computer?

I know I wasn't very helpful with your questions in my previous reply to your last post. After reading this most recent post, my advice to you would be to sell the Volt. You are obviously not happy with it and will NEVER be happy with it. If a little "swoosh" sound and a screen that displa...

Re: New 2012 owner has questions

Hey congratulations on being a Volt owner, but it sounds like you are not very happy with it. I have a 2011 and I'm afraid I cant help too much with your questions, but I have a little bit of info. 1. I am pretty sure the charger IS built into the car, the home 220 volt chargers you buy, or the publ...

Re: How to get a full charge

To profrws: I have a 2011, and yes it does take about 12 hours on 110 volts. I also found the outlet I was using got VERY hot during the charge, hot enough that I didn't feel safe using it. After about 4 days, I decided to install a brand new 220 Volt circuit and charger which I would HIGHLY recomme...
