Put My Name on the List

Postby tdworden » Tue Jul 20, 2010 9:02 pm

I went to my local Chevy dealer yesterday and put my name on the wait list.

The salesman could not tell me it they planned on going with list price of higher. I told him I would be disappointed it they tried to take advantage of the buyers. I would not like to start my association on a negative note.

Wish me luck.

Good luck Tom! I don't think the dealers really have it figured out yet. Though to be fair it would be hard to figure it out without knowing the MSRP / options / trim etc.

Various people have told me various things but a common theme I've heard is a $3,000 premium.

I got an email (and call) from Stewart Chevrolet Cadillac (Colma, CA):

Hello,
Thank you for your continued interest in the Chevy Volt.

We received news today of pricing for the all new Chevy Volt.

The Volt will start at $41,000 MSRP.

The Volt is loaded with premium equipment standard. Each 2011 Volt will have the production number digitally
displayed on the center stack and include premium features such as:
• Navigation
• 6-speaker Bose Energy Efficient Series stereo
• 5-years OnStar Directions & Connections
• Chevrolet Connect Mobile App
• Bluetooth for phone with phone book access
• 30 gig hard drive to store digital music files
• XM radio, NavTraffic and NavWeather (3 month subscription included)
• Reconfigurable instrument digital display
• Remote Start
• Touch-sensitive controls on the center stack with 7-inch touch-screen
• 8 air bags, StabiliTrak stability control with traction control and more.
(full list available at media.gm.com/volt)

Leather and other features will be optional.

Please note that we will be allocated 10 volts for 2011, and because of high demand will be asking a $10,000 premium.

You might also qualify for up to $7500 in government assistance.

Please also note that these 10 volts that we have been allocated will come in slowly throughout the year and some orders might not get filled until 2012 model year.

I am quite disgusted they are taking advantage of that when the premium price is 44,500.

:o I was shocked to hear the $41,000+ price. To add a $10,000 premium is a major turnoff to me. I will not order one at that price.

Hey Guys! Make sure to check out my newest post. I got an order in at MSRP at Concord Chevrolet. I would encourage you to find the smaller dealers farther away from city centers. They tend to charge a much smaller premium.

For example, the Vallejo guy was asking $3k premium.

If you have any other specific questions let me know!

I called Concord Chevrolet last month (October) and they had 3 allocations left. I told the sales manager I wanted one, but since I live in Seattle Wash. he said he couldn't sell me one because he needed a local customeer to get the service business. I can understand that but I told him that if we didn't get Volts in Seattle next year I was going to fly down to Ca. and get a Ca drivers license and buy one of his 2011 allotments. We both laughed and he said "Go for it!" Patrick, you are sooo lucky to have that dealer close to you because he says he never asks for more than the msrp. I already have the license plate for my Volt...1K MPG

Nice! I like that plate! I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my plates right now.

Derek is a good guy. You should move to California and you would be all set ;)
