We picked up our brand new red w/blk interior Volt Sunday 1-16-11, from Dailey Chevrolet and so far we are in love!!!

At the last minute we opted to lease as opposed to purchase for several reasons:

1. Just in case the electric vehicle doesn't go well in our society, we simply turn it back in at the end of the lease and go back to gas.
2. If the technology advances i.e. lighter, stronger, increased storage batteries. More interior color options (we really didn't want black, but didn't like the other options). We turn ours in and buy the newer model.
3. As more Manufacturers come on line the price may lower due to competition.
4. If the value of our car increases we can either buy it or sell it and keep the profit.
5. The monthly paymant is $200 less then buying!

My wife will be the primary driver and she commutes 7 miles to work so the 12,000 miles per year is not a problem. We are also debating whether or not to install 240V charging since she only drives a short distance to work and our city (Benicia, Ca) is small enough that we can get around on a single charge with no problem.

Congrats on the new Volt John. I've had mine for 4 weeks now and am loving it. It inspired me to buy a little bit of GM stock today. :)

Sounds like we've got quite a few Bay Area Volts now. We should have a meet up and compare notes.

We made a run today from our home in Benicia to Compadres Restaurant in Napa for lunch and traveled 45.3 miles on electric and 1.9 miles with the gas generator. We have had our Volt for one week and can only get it to charge to 37 EV so we were excited that our driving style regenerated 8 additional EV miles. We are really enjoying the vehicle.

We did the same when we bought our Harley Davidson. We like to buy stock in products we use.
We hope to see more Volts on the roadways in the Bay area and charging stations at our favorite restaurants, malls, and movie theater soon.
