Looking to buy a 2013 Volt.

When Volts are available, here will be the place to talk about how to Detail, Maintain and Customize your Volt. Other good topics are charging (solar or otherwise) smartphone app usage, etc.

Looking to buy a 2013 Volt.

Postby LarianBretto » Sun Sep 22, 2019 8:41 am

Little backstory I have an '03 Lincoln Town Car that I am willing to sell. And a few reasons I would like this car because it is smaller, it will, save me gas money and has new features that my current car does not have. And was wondering for those reasons listed, would it be a good idea to buy considering I would only pay 90 bucks a month for and use the money I get from my current car as a down payment.

It's been a month since this post ... I assume the decision time has past.
But yes, the Volt is a great car if it's the size/type that meets your needs. I have always liked hatchbacks for their flexibility. Why more cars are not made in this format I don't understand.

As for buying used: I have always done this. For the Volt, even more then for other cars, I would suggest you have someone read out the DTC error codes from the OBDII connector. Any shop can do this, and many auto parts stores will do this for you for free. Not all codes are bad. You should just be aware of any issues. A dealer that actually services Volts would be the best place for this, but this can be hard to find, or may be hard to get the car in there in a timely manner.

Also, like any used car, get the VIN and check online for accident reports and any car history you can gather.
